Easy Lemon And Honey Mask For Acne-Prone Oily Skin

When one mentions lemon and honey, the first thing that comes to mind is a warm drink to help soothe a sore throat, so it could be said that lemon and honey are synonymous with healing. Well, what if they could heal more than a sore throat?

When mixed together, lemon and honey can create an extremely healing, soothing and beautifying face mask that can really improve your skin with a single use, let alone when used consistently.

Lemon And Honey Mask For Acne-Prone Oily Skin

How Does Lemon Help?

The acid in lemon juice has mild astringent qualities. The astringents work by making the body tissues tighten, thus making your skin less oily by pushing the excess oil out.

Lemon juice also contains a natural antibacterial agent, which when applied to the skin will not only act as an exfoliant that can help get rid of dead skin cells faster, but will also diminish the amount of bacteria present on your skin.

Also often used as a skin lightener, when applied to the skin, lemon juice may also be helpful in fading dark or red marks left behind from acne.

How Does Honey Help?

For centuries, people have been using honey internally as an antibiotic as well as topically for it’s antiseptic properties.

Honey will help stop the growth of bacteria in skin pores as it decreases their ability to survive and thus, replicate.

Apart from that, honey works wonders on already developed pimples as thanks to its anti-inflammatory qualities, honey will help stop them from growing and therefore drastically reduce their appearance.

Why Combine Honey And Lemon?

One of the main ‘disadvantages’ of using lemon juice on your skin is that it can be rather drying.

However, when used with honey, your skin’s suppleness will be preserved, as honey, being a natural humectant, will not only attract but also and retain moisture.
